WEWT. Cute little piece of paper here... and oh look... it has the main chunk of storyline for Project: Demonhunter on it.... minus the vast majority of spoilers... except those of Mayhem, Inc... but it's getting overhauled anyway. XD

A wee bit of explanation for those that I haven't already explained it to... so other than the like... four people I work with that are on here. ^__^


A few thousand years ago, Heaven and Hell looked at the wars that they had been waging and went "Good Gods this is stupid." Well, okay... those that dealt with the war on a daily basis did that. Some of the other gods didn't even realize what was going on. (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. *shakes fist*)

The Underworld gods re-evaluated their positions with the keepers of Hell and the Angels of Death, and worked out the committees that you see above.

Out of the Main and Adjutant seats, only four of those people need to be in attendance at any meeting. (Grouped by order: North, West, South, East - if there are two people in a position, either of them can attend. Or both. There are days they -all- manage to get off their butts and show up. ^_^)

They oversee the Lesser Council, which runs pretty much everything else.

Azrael keeps his position, but now oversees the processing of all souls, start to finish. Hades and Enma help him from time to time. He also is in charge of the Book of Life - he always has, but since everyone's decided to amalgamate... that book's gotten a WHOLE lot bigger.

Now, about five years before the start of Project: Demonhunter, Azrael went home one evening... and didn't show up the next day... or the day after that... or after that. Everyone thinks he's just on vacation. Toshi took over control of his department, but more on that later.

Julia Carmichael is the General of the Army of Heaven. Now, what is it doing in Hell, you ask? All souls are pooled in the Underworld and sent off to their assigned areas. Those in the Elysian Fields and Valhalla can be called on to renew their heroic duties and stand in the name of the Underworld. Angels of other classes can also be pulled in if the situation warrants it.... and if things get REALLY bad, Lucifer will rally the demons and other Fallen to her cause. (She's really just trying to maintain order... and most of Hell is neutral anyway... unless it interferes with their lives directly. Then... POW.)

Astaroth, Lord of Pandemonium, Capital City of Hell, etc etc... takes care of the daily tasks of the Underworld and assists Azrael with his reaper's duties. He controls the Sins and Horsemen, sending them out to areas of the world that the Council has decided need a little touch of Death. He also controls the Prophecies and the Fates (not included on chart) and ensures that the right b.s. makes it to the tabloids, and the actual stuff just floats on by the mortal realm unnoticed.

He's also in charge of Transportation. You heard me. They gave him charge of up keeping the ferries and chariots, as well as the rivers themselves. (He's doing a better job than Hades... but Charon still hasn't gotten that damn raise. >< )

Toshi Ayame is in charge of Supernatural Control, which means that NOTHING goes on in the mortal realm, or the other realms for that matter, without her knowing about it. She has relinquished a great deal of her power to the Assistant Controllers since Azrael's disappearance, but since she's placed so many of her retainers and apprentices in key positions, it's like she never left... except in Nightmares.

Eustace used to be able to handle everything himself because of Toshi's intel... but he had to hire on more staff so he could gather the information himself... but he still saves the REALLY juicy jobs for himself. ^_^

The Cardinal Elemental Warriors fall under the 'Celestial' category because they were created along with the universe and make up pretty much everything in it. They've all gotten day jobs since then - the most notable one being Junsui - she is Enma's personal weaponsmith, but will accept contracts from other gods from time to time. She is Toshi's current mentor, and trained Tamashii, who was the Demonhunter before Toshi was born.

The Heaven Council is a mirror image of the one in the Underworld, and works with the Hell Council to make sure that an average day stays average, and that an above average day doesn't get out of hand.

It's mostly made up of elder gods and higher beings... those that have the universe within earshot. Raphael, An, Ra, and Gaia are adjutant seats... but they all show up to the meetings anyway. They really don't have a lot else to do, yanno. Partial sway of the Army of Heaven and Supernatural Control fall under the Heaven Council... because a) The Army of HEAVEN... duh, and b) the Virgin Mary's face appears on a lot more toast than any other deity. Which is a shame.

And the Army of Hell. It's not actually affiliated with Hell proper... it's just a bunch of dorks and ne'er-do-wells being... dorks and ne'er-do-wells. Raimei Tenameno decided since he got to be one of the Kings of Hell, he might as well go ahead and be THE King of Hell. ... Needless to say, this doesn't sit well with the Council. Kuraichi and Kuraikiba are his two main lackeys, and the three of them get into alllll kinds of trouble. Their unknown benefactor is just that to all parties involved.

Even though they control over 700,000 souls and are constantly raiding the mortal plane for more, the Heaven and Hell councils, as well as Supernatural Control and the Army of Heaven are more than a match for them. ^__^
